This week’s TechTalk starts with news about Blackberry phones and Apple’s new HQ in Battersea, which evokes some brief reminiscing for both Jeremy Eames and Steve Griffiths. Steve also admits that he’s addicted to drones and makes sure we all know about the latest foldable model.
Our first guest, David Brown of Adavow, is fighting against advert overload, and Jeremy Eames is well on board being a victim of post-purchase advert attacks! Steve also finds the constant barrage of search engine related advertising annoying and is pleased that AdTech appears to be making strides in combating this aggressive, repetitive marketing. Jeremy is interested to discover that David has a background in psychology and the studio suspect that he’s probably got us all worked out by now!
Next is our live unboxing segment, and this week things get a little bit out of control when a mini drone is let loose in the studio. Find out if our team of boys who like toys think it rocks or goes back in the box.
This week our Tech Savvy segment comes from the Takeaway and Restaurant Innovation Expo 2016 and Anthony Robins of Dinggly – the world’s smartest call for service. Sue Nelson and Brady Last talk about how important they think customer service is for the success of a business and how this new button might stop women from being ignored in restaurants!
Our final guest today is Mike Masey who’s background stems from music production and digital media, but thankfully led him to be a web builder extraordinaire. Steve wants to know how you successfully design a website these days; one which works across all devices and platforms without dropping quality. Now working for Yoyo, Jeremy is keen to find out more about the big name clients that Yoyo have worked with and if there are any development challenges he’s had to overcome – like Breakthrough Funding’s animated homepage. Steve wants to know what developer mistakes get up Mike’s nose – like poorly synced apps and carousels! Grrr, best stay away from fairgrounds, Mike.

Steve Griffiths introduces today’s guests and let’s us know that our host Jeremy Eames is rather spaced out today due to having a vaccination yesterday.
Our hosts discuss BBC’s Tech Talent week and the very serious business of UK tech start up funding being rather barren. Jeremy gets a slapped wrist for not being on LinkedIn, when TechTalk now is (naughty), and they muse over the business benefits of getting involved in LinkedIn vs the personal touch of Twitter. Which do you prefer?
Nick Bridgen of Harlequin CDIS is our first guest today and is all about brand protection. Whether you’re a one-man band or a banker if you want to find out if you’re properly managing your online profile, these are the guys to talk to. Steve questions the need for a one man band having brand protection and discovers that it’s often the smaller companies that are at a much greater list due to not having properly protected themselves from hacking and viruses. Basically, he’s a professional, nice guy hacker who you pay to break into your sensitive information! What a job!
Are you excited? You should be, because next is our live unboxing section! The team look at a Bluetooth iPad keyboard this week. After a fairly unimpressive start for this week’s item, find out if Jeremy can work out where the enter key is and whether they finally decide whether they think it rocks or goes back in the box.
Next we hear Sue Nelson interview Brady Last of Breakthrough Funding, who specialise in R & D tax relief. Sue thinks it sounds terribly boring and prompts Brady to give us a reason to prick up our ears – perhaps discovering that your business is most likely eligible for government funding might pique the interests of the UK masses?
We’re joined on the phone by Brendon Bezuidenhout who is lead developer of CDC connect which looks after gay dating veterans Gaydar and has also now created Gaydar Girls. Steve is interested to find out the difference between Gaydar and Gaydar Girls and which came quicker. Jeremy gives away his lack of coding knowledge by mispronouncing C# as C-Hashtag – he’s so obsessed with Twitter - Brendon clears up the difference between the variety of coding languages for us. Phew!

First our hosts meet Alexandra K Riemann, creator of My Wanderlust. Having been born into a family with a passion for travel, having plenty of her own experiences where she found she was lacking a travel companion and being inspired by a university lecturer, creating a website to help people find their perfect destination and someone to share it with seemed like a perfect fit for Alexandra. The team discuss the benefits of websites vs. apps and the best way to go about creating your own "Tinder for Travellers" and Jeremy gets a touch of the green monster after listening to Alex's jet-setting life stories.
Next up is our regular unboxing section of The Tile, a bluetooth keyring to help you locate your precious items. find out whether they think it rocks or if it goes back in the box. What's the strangest place you've found your keys?
Sue Nelson meets Paul Andrews for the second week to discuss scaling up businesses especially for tech start ups. Paul thinks tech industries get seduced by the technology and forget about marketing products to real life customers and Sue agrees that getting realistic monetary estimates for a product's worth is important - even if it takes time for people to understand the product, as Paul has experienced himself!
Mark Philip of ADM Computing is our final guest for the day and specialises in keeping relationships between sales and services running smoothly. Steve wants to know what's pushing people towards Microsoft SharePoint and Mark explains that people are finally realising that the old ways don't work as well anymore and we discover that there's quite a big push in people looking to update their business strategies.
