This is bonkers, but brilliantly bonkers…
Think of stress relief and most people think of things like alcohol, cigarettes or junk food – obviously none of them really work.
Stefan Chmelik introduced BioSafe to us, they have developed tech to get us to relax on-demand without something that would earn a big tut from the doctor.

Obviously at TechTalk HQ a fair amount of our time is spent on websites for companies who we wish to speak to, but never have we come across a homepage with a VR tour of their office…
Austella bucked that trend and ended up consuming a large chunk of our working day playing around on their site. In case you hadn’t guessed, they are VR guys. Mark Cundle told us about the applications they have developed alongside some big hitters in the tech world.
We can’t offer you a VR podcast and we’re sorry about that, but it’s worth a listen nonetheless. We won’t be offended if you choose to head to their cool website first though.

Walking in a wearable wonderland

Few can blame him for being a tad on the grumpy side, but Steve Griffiths is back from his Morocco sojourn in a foul mood – Vodafone have severely irked him and Dan Hawkes is trying to stay in his good books.
Thankfully, he didn’t need to be too chatty this week. Following our teaser of a couple of the interviews from the Wearable Technology Show, we were back for more this week.
Creative agencies, the future of surgery, a company redefining easy payment methods and clicking your fingers to make stuff happen. All of that within an hour? You better believe it.
Don’t worry though, we still had plenty of time for Unboxing – call the police, there’s been a mugging and we’ve been ripped off.

Doctors need a helping hand from tech sometimes – we’re probably not at the stage where we can trust a robot with a heart transplant, but the simple stuff is fine.
With to-see lists filling up more every single day, GPs need a platform where they can access patient forms remotely and provide instant advice and support based on a simple form filling exercise from the patient.
Thankfully, we spoke to Murray from eConsult who has the key to unlock the issues. Find out more on the podcast and visit the website here.

Safe Patient Systems

The idea behind Safe Patient Systems is a simple yet marvellous one and it makes you question why nobody thought of it before.
We caught up with David Morgan, who sympathised with his patients as an NHS Doctor over the time it took to get an appointment for a simple issue. Really, it just needed some remote checking – step forward his company’s mobile monitoring system.
Ease the squeeze on the NHS and get quick answers to the burning questions about your health – visit the website and hear more from the podcast.

While Steve is busy sunning himself in Morocco (alright for some), Dan Hawkes was joined in the TechTalk studio by Christie Ellis to present a packed schedule of tech. Who needs Marrakech when you’re in Costa del Kent?
We did, however, let our minds stray from the studio with our first guest – and we can blame him for that. Richard Stephens from Opto beamed us into his VR world. Opto are producing lighter, wireless and generally just fantastic headsets.
Unboxing was resoundingly consigned back to the box this week, but it did actually rock too. What on earth? Find out what happened via the live video on Social Media.
It’s actually been quite a busy one for us this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we were up at London Excel chatting to some great guys at the Wearable Technology show. The second half of the show featured a sample of some our favourite interviews.
We’ll have a full special next week, but for this podcast make sure you listen out for Aparito Health, Studio Zero and hear Dan and Harry use their mind to power Scalextric at Hamamatsu’s stand.

Now we're talking!

In a week where the Nokia 3310 was re-released and Blackberry restored the smartphone keyboard, who better to take us back to the future then our very own Steve Griffiths and Dan Hawkes?!
Hermione Crease was our first guest and she told us all about her company, Purrmetrix. They have developed a domestic Internet of Things product that will help map buildings and identify heat usage. It’s a great way to save money on heating and air conditioning bills, whilst looking after the planet at the same time.
Steve and Dan were a little sceptical over the usability and pricing of our unboxing product, sourced by Producer James, who tried to argue a case to avoid the dreaded unanimous “back in the box!”
For this week’s Tech Savvy segment, Sue Nelson interviewed Dean Andrews in another of our Eversheds specials. This time around we were discussing the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme and the benefits of its associated tax breaks.
We then had Chris Williams on the phone to finish off the show, he told us all about his company Chatta, who have created a unique training programme to accelerate children’s speech and language skills. The classroom teacher explained how their app and online course work.
We’ll be back with more TechTalk discussion next week, but for now, why not check out the FoodTalk Awards? It’s being hosted by our sister show and will be coming to London this June.

The key to a smart and secure home

Friday Feb 24, 2017
In a week when Amazon contested the use of an Alexa voice recording in a court case, there was no silencing Steve and Dan as they presented another hour of TechTalk.
Our studio guest was Nigel Walley, MD of Chimni. His company have developed a smart filing system for homeowners to aggregate all of their bills, insurance documents, licences, etc. in one place!
An eventful unboxing segment was split into two parts as Producer James and Social Media Harry initially provided batteries, but no screwdriver, much to the amusement of Dan and Steve. Take two was more successful and once again the lights were dimmed to showcase this week’s mystery product.
We then heard Sue Nelson’s Tech Savvy interview with Francois Mazoudier, the Founder of Croydon-based Tech Hub, TMRW. A fabulous alternative to the traditional desk space hire model with the benefit of central London travel links without the central London prices.
Finally, we spoke to James Heywood – Marketing Manager at Lincoln Security – who enlightened us with the development of eLoq, an electronic key system guaranteed to improve security. Its’ associated cloud-based software tracks every time a lock is opened and is set to revolutionise both home and business owners locking up routines.

Techs get it on...

Often mistaken for an old married couple, Steve Griffiths and Dan Hawkes took to the TechTalk studio after a week of Valentines celebrations. Passions may have spilled over the edge with Unboxing in the middle part of the show - the lights were off and Marvin Gaye was on… Need we say more?
Before things got hot and heavy though, we had a fantastic chat with Robert Dragan from Learnium. Speaking on the phone from his office beanbag overlooking a river, Robert explained how his app is improving education by providing better communication for students and teachers alike.
Having moved on from Unboxing, we then got the lowdown on Eversheds, the corporate law specialists, with the help of Charlotte Walker-Osborn.
Before the love-in ended, we caught up with Shruti Malani-Krishnan from Powr of You. They are urging people to be #DataSmart and are offering the opportunity for payment from social media activity. Quids in.
